St. Aidan of Lindesfarne
St. Aidan of Lindesfarne: With Paganism present in Ireland, King Oswald of Northumbria hired Aidan to travel and preach Christianity to villagers.

He consistently gave to the poor as he spread interest in Christianity under the Kings he served, all of which he was close friends with. Founding several schools and monasteries, he survived a Pagan invasion before his death.

Died: 8/31/651 Bamburg, England. Feast Day: August 31.

Patronage: Northumbria, Firefighters.
