St. Florian
St. Florian joined the Roman Army rising to commander of the imperial army.

Florian organized and trained an elite group of soldiers whose sole duty was to fight fires.

When ordered by Aquilinus to offer sacrifice to the Roman Gods, he refused.

Born: 250 AD. Died circa 304 AD. Feast Day: May 4th.

Patronage: Firefighters, Linz, Austria, Krakow, Poland; Chimneysweeps and Soap Boilers.
